The red kidney bean is super-versatile. It’s pretty much the Queen been and can be used in so many dishes that you’d be silly not to keep some in your cupboard at all times. Red kidney beans have a wonderful creamy texture which will help bulk up your dishes and make an incredibly delicious chili con carne.
But, a word of warning. These red kidney beans must be furiously boiled before consumption. They’re actually a bit poisonous if eaten straight out of the tin. The trick is never to cook them in the water that they came in, but to use fresh tap water which they can be boiled in for a good 20 minutes.
